Typomorphic features and origin of ferrokesterite and kesterite from greisen deposits of Russian Far East associated with Li–F granites are considered. The composition of kesterite from greisen of type locality – the Kester deposit (Yakutia) is described. Parameters of the mineral correspond to earlier descriptions. The special attention is given to the composition of ferrokesterite from greisen (zwitter) of the Pravourmiyskoye deposit (Amur River region). Ferrokesterite has the high ratio of Fe/(Fe + Zn) (0.73–0.92) and deficiency of typical minor elements In, Ag, Cd, Bi, As, Se. Kesterite and ferrokesterite are associated with cassiterite, sphalerite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite and occur on the top level of greisen ore deposits where they supersede others sulfostannates. The comparative analysis of kesterite and ferrokesterite from the Far East with sulfostannates in greisen, accompanying Li–F granites is carried out. It has been suggested that the kesterite and ferrokesterite can be used as mineral indicators of the large rare-metal-tin ore deposits. It is necessary to investigate ferrokesterite as a probable natural prototype of the optoelectronic material for manufacture of solar cells.
