Mukhinite — the first find in the Urals

Abstract
The paper displays data on mukhinite, which was for the first time found in the Urals in ruby-bearing marbles of the Suunduksky anticlinoria. In general, its physical properties, chemical composition and X-ray pattern correspond to properties of this mineral previously described in the Gornaya Shoria and Kola Peninsula. The vanadium oxide content in the Urals’ mukhinite is 7.40—9.54 wt %, with the low iron content. And mukhinite crystals are zoned: their central part composition correspond to the formula with vanadium prevailing in the M position, with edge part corresponding to clinozoisite with Al dominating in the same position. There was remarked also the Cr2O3 admixture in an amount from 0.38 to 0.72 wt %. Formation of mukhinite in the Suunduksky anticlinoria may be connected with hydrothermal solutions in the tectonic fault zone. Aluminum oxide, chromium and vanadium might be supplementary supplied by fluids during granitization.
