Abstract

In the frame of the quataron concept there are proposed new models of nucleation and growth of crystals, forming base of a non-classical paradigm of crystal-forming process. According to these models, the nucleation of crystals occurs by the two-step mechanism — through the formation in the crystal-forming media of particular nanosize clusters («hidden» phase clusters or quatarons). The same clusters are considered as the basic building units while growth of crystals. The full adaptation of the structure of quatarons to a crystal structure occurs on the growing face, where the two-dimensional nucleus is formed.

Key words: nucleation and growth of crystals, non-classical mechanisms of crystals formation, the quataron concept.
