Abstract

The paper describes principal stages in the history of the Russian Mineralogical Society—one of the oldest mineralogical societies in the world, which in January 2017 has celebrated the 200^th anniversary of its foundation. There is displayed the role of the Mineralogical Society in development of Earth’s sciences and the spreading of mineral-resources base of the Russia. Actually, the Society is focused upon quite certain directions in its activity, and it impacts certain challenges in the current situation.
