Abstract

There is brief rewiew of the scientific program, contents of scientific reports and the chronicle of organizational arrangements of the 200th Anniversary Meeting of the Russian Mineralogical Society (RMS) (10—13 October 2017). There are brought data on winners of the RMS competitive tenders and discoverers of new minerals, results of election of the Honorary RMS Members. The materials of the Anniversaty Meeting, published with the support of the RMS and the Government of St. Petersburg, are published in a digest of articles compiled by 635 researchers from Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, USA, Canada, Egypt, India, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Israel, Italy (a total of 342 reports). 376 participants arrived at the Meeting, incl. representatives of many regions of Russia. Thematic sections of the Congress were: (1) Fundamental issues of mineralogy. Mineral diversity and the evolution of mineral formation; (2) Mineralogical crystallography and crystal chemistry; (3) Carbon and diamonds; (4) Minerals—indicators of petro- and oreogenesis and new methods for their detection; (5) Natural stone in the history of civilization; (6) Applied mineralogy; (7) History of science. 152 oral reports were heard, presented and discussed 94 poster presentations. Representatives of sponsoring companies: «Teskan», «Bruker AXS», «OPTEK», «VEUK» took part in the work of the Meeting. RMS diplomas were awarded to scientists—discoverers of new minerals (more than 60 diplomas) and winners of competitions of scientific monographs, scientific works of young scientists, scientific microphotography. Honorary members of the Mineralogical Society were elected Russian and foreign scientists-mineralogists and crystallographers: S. K. Filatov (Russia, St. Petersburg), B. E. Borutskiy (Russia, Moscow), R. M. Hazen (USA, Washington), E. S. Grew (USA, Orono), P. C. Burns (USA, Washington), R. I. Koneev (Uzbekistan, Tashkent).
