Abstract

Representative collection of 33 samples of vesuvianite-group minerals (VGM) has been studied with use of wavelength dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (WDS), including determination of boron, X-ray structural analysis, DSC, as well as partly 27Al NMR, ICP-MS and Mössbauer spectroscopy, for detailed analysis of relationships between parameters of IR spectra and crystal-chemical characteristics of VGM. Characteristic absorption bands corresponding to different local configurations involving OH and  groups have been revealed. The dependence of IR spectra of vesuvianite-group minerals on their symmetry is discussed.
