Abstract

Namibite Cu(BiO)2(VO4)(OH) has been defined in a sample from the Alakurtti granite pegmatites for the first time in Russia. This sample is stored in the Museum of Geology and Mineralogy of the Geological Institute KSC RAS. Bright green crusts and peels of namibite have been found in cavities and along cracks in quartz. The mineral occurs as an aggregate of subparallel sliced individuals. The other Bi-minerals of beyerite and bismutite have been discovered in association with namibite. The article provides data on morphology, chemical composition, X-ray powder pattern and Raman spectroscopy of the mineral, which correspond to the data on namibite described in the world literature.

Key words: namibite, granite pegmatites, Kola Region.
